RFM5RMY5–Macrodactyla doreensis (diameter 30 cms.) has a smaller number of tentacles than most sea anemones. The common names are long tentacle anemone and corkscrew anemone. Each tentacle is similar in size, shape and colour. They tend to taper towards the end and some have a twisted appearance (hence 'corkscrew'). In this instance, the animal is light brown - other individuals display different colours, including pink and blue. It lives on sandy substrates, where it catches zooplankton in the current, which it transfers to the central mouth. If alarmed, it buries itself in the sand. Bali, Indonesia.
