Butterflyfish are usually encountered in couples. They live in tropical coral reefs, feeding on coral polyps. All butterfly fish have a mask over their eyes. Their pattern usually consists of a color mix of black, white and yellow, sometimes shades of red. This specimen has an irregular pattern compared to normal threadfins.
