Aneroid barometer, used to measure atmospheric pressure and forecast weather. The barometer is displaying a reading of around 29.3 inches of mercury, the atmospheric equivalent to 992 millibars. This type of barometer contains a vacuum chamber that expands at low pressure and contracts at high pressure. The chamber is connected to a lever that moves a pointer around the face of the barometer. Low pressure generally indicates wet weather, while high pressure indicates dry weather.
