The World Naked Bike Ride will pedal through St. Louis on July 28.
This year's event starts at 6 p.m. at the South Grand Boulevard parking lot and includes body-painting, live music and "costume" contests. The ride, typically 10 miles, starts at 8 p.m.
Now in its fifth year, the ride is a cheeky demonstration against America's car culture and will include a cycling expo as well as a discussion about cycling and cyclists' rights. World Naked Bike Rides are scheduled in 70 cities in 20 countries.Â
St. Louis' riders are encouraged to go "as bare as they dare." Organizers say 500 riders turned out for the 2011 ride. Some participants wore swimsuits or strategically placed decorations. Though riders have drawn their fair share of gawkers throughout the years, there have been no arrests.Â
