What Cause Blighted Ovum?
A blighted ovum, also known as an embryonic pregnancy or anembryonic gestation, typically occurs due to chromosomal or genetic issues that arise during the critical process of cell division. After fertilization takes place, the egg begins to divide and multiply, gradually forming an embryo within approximately ten days. However, in the unfortunate case of a blighted ovum, the embryo either fails to develop properly or ceases to grow once it has formed, leading to a pregnancy that cannot progress successfully.
