Hello guys! It’s been a long time.
I am so happy that I finally have a Weibo account, and I want to share how to make one using your laptop/desktop (especially, if your country is not listed in the list provided by Weibo whenever you are accessing its desktop version).
- Use Google Chrome to browse Weibo.
- Go to m.weibo.cn, the mobile version of Weibo.
- Click the orange button.
- Translate the page to English (right click > translate to English).
NOTE: Always do this so that you can easily access the website. - You can either register via mobile or email. It’s up to you to choose. However, both options will direct you in asking your mobile number.
- If you chose email registration, fill-up the following requirements (e-mail, desired password, and your desired Weibo nickname), then click Sign-up now.
- After that, you will be forwarded to this page.
- Choose your country. (Gladly, my country is listed in Weibo’s mobile version), and enter your phone number in the text box below it.
- After filling-up, click the orange button (Obtain SMS verification). It will send you a verification code.
NOTE: The verification code is only valid within 60 seconds, and you can only obtain a verification code thrice. - After verifying, enter your desired nickname, birthday, gender and location.
NOTE: Make sure that each sections have green checks. - For the location, click the drop-down menu and choose your location. (I simply chose Others when I registered).
- After submitting, choose at least ONE interest then click Enter.
(Credits to withwinner.wordpress.com for the instructions and screenshots in steps 10-12.) - TADA!!! You already have a Weibo account! Try to log-in using the Weibo’s desktop version to check if your account is already registered.
NOTE: If it redirects you to the web page like this…
It means your account is not yet verified.
1. If you choose Mobile Registration when you signed up, you still need to verify your email.
2. If you use Email Registration and you skip the step for mobile verification, your account is not registered yet therefore you need to verify your mobile phone.
Additional information: You can also register in Weibo using your Facebook account.
- Go to http://hk.weibo.com/ (at your desktop) and click the FB part.
- If you are not logged in your Facebook account, you will be then required to log-in. If you are logged in, you will be forwarded to a web page like this.
The disadvantage of using this method is that it will require you to verify your number. Unfortunately, the list they provided does not include countries such as Indonesia, Cambodia, Myanmar, Brunei, Philippines, Vietnam and Laos.

did you go to m.weibo.com when you registered your number?
I clicked “Sign up now” and nothing happened 😦
That page froze every time i clicked to sign up then
hey i also have the same problem my carrier doesn’t receiving any ver code, but i may found other solution:
1- register weibo using facebook on the phone
2-go to http://hk.weibo.com/ click login using facebook
3-then when it ask you to bind fb & weibo click “forget password”
4-fill the usual data (here the crucial step to bind your phone number)
and that’s it, i don’t know why my carrier “telkomsel” doesn’t want to recieve any text from e.weibo.com or weibo.cn but accept http://hk.weibo.com/, goodluck 🙂

Try entering your email and phone number again. Maybe, you only have wrong input. When entering your phone number, you must not include the country calling code (e.g. in Phils., your number is 09123456789 or +639123456789. When entering your number in the mobile number text box, you must only include 9123456789, not including the 0 or the country’s calling code, in this case, 63.)

Of course, you can use it in English and follow Korean celebrities in Weibo! However, their English version of Weibo still have some Chinese characters.

My country is not listed so I tried to sign up via email. But when I filled the form and click to register, the next window showed up is again a SMS verification via phone. Which obviously cannot be done as my country is not listed. So neither I can register via phone (country not listed) nor via email (again point to SMS). Any suggestion how to register?
some people uses “receives sms online for free”, wherein you can receive texts, to register. those phones have legit numbers from the other countries. I didn’t succeed when I tried that method… but some people have luck with that method. good luck

maybe you included 09 when you entered your number. try entering starting from 9. 😃
