Backstreet Boys return with new album, summer tour
The Backstreet Boys will celebrate their 20th anniversary with the July 30 release of a new album, In A World Like This, and a 25-city tour that kicks off Aug. 2 in Chicago. The tour will wrap up Sept. 8 in San Francisco.
All five original boy band members — Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell, AJ McLean and Kevin Richardson — are back for the band's ninth studio album and first since 2009's This Is Us. On Wednesday, they performed the new song, Permanent Stain, on ABC's Good Morning America, where they announced the album and tour. They'll be giving away a free download of the song with the purchase of tour tickets, which go on sale Friday.
In A World Like This was recorded in London and Los Angeles with producers Martin Terefe, Max Martin, Morgan Reid & Prophet, Dan Muckula and Justin Trugman. First single In A World Like This will be available June 25.
"We always want to top our previous albums. That's always our objective,"says Carter. "All five of us were determined to create an album where every song could be a single."
