Rachael Leigh Cook, husband Daniel Gillies announce separation after 14-year marriage

After more than 14 years of marriage, actors Rachael Leigh Cook and Daniel Gillies have announced that they're breaking up.

In identical Instagram posts on their respective social media accounts, Cook, the 39-year-old "She's All That" star, and Gillies, the 43-year-old "The Originals" cast member, write that "have mutually decided to separate as a couple."

Their decision to split "isn't one we have come to easily and lightly," they say. "We love and respect each other as parents, people and artists and look forward to maintaining the best parts of our relationship for many years to come."

They shared heart emojis, messages of love and gratitude for discretion "for the sake of our children during this time of transition."

Cook and Gillies share children Charlotte, 5, and Theodore, 4. The two were wed in 2004.
