Harry Styles Released His New Album on Taylor Swift's 30th Birthday

Harry Styles's new album Fine Line has officially dropped, and we're planning to listen to nothing but it this weekend, diving into the lyrics and any hidden messages. But before we go deep, we couldn't help but notice that Harry dropped the album on a pretty significant day: December 13, a.k.a. the 30th birthday of his former flame, the one and only Taylor Swift.

Why is this significant, you ask? Taylor and Harry publicly dated for a few months in 2012 and early 2013 before splitting. After their breakup, the two both went on to pen a few songs that were very likely about one another, like Taylor's songs "Style" and "Out of the Woods" and Harry's songs "Perfect" (with One Direction) and "Two Ghosts." While neither explicitly addressed the songs, Harry did tell Rolling Stone in 2017 that he'd thank Taylor for her work, saying, "She doesn't need me to tell her [her songs] are great. They're great songs.... It's the most amazing unspoken dialogue ever. Certain things don't work out. There's a lot of things that can be right, and it's still wrong. In writing songs about stuff like that, I like tipping a hat to the time together," he continued. "You're celebrating the fact it was powerful and made you feel something, rather than 'this didn't work out, and that's bad.' And if you run into that person, maybe it's awkward [...] but you shared something. Meeting someone new, sharing those experiences, it's the best sh*t ever. So thank you."

Though it's been a really long time since the two dated, fans can't help but be thrilled by the Easter egg of Harry Styles's new album release date; after all, "13" is an extremely sacred number for Taylor and for Swifties everywhere. "Haylor nation this one's for us," tweeted one fan, posting a screenshot of #FineLine and #HappyBirthdayTaylor trending right beside one another. Another posted a few pics of what Taylor and Harry were doing on her birthday in 2012, including getting cupcakes and going out to a pub in England.

Of course, this is all possibly a coincidence; albums are released on Fridays throughout the year, and this year, it just happens to be Taylor's birthday. Regardless of the date, we know one thing to be true: Fine Line is definitely going to be one of our most-played albums of the year, despite the fact that it just came out.
