Britney Spears has broken her silence on the news that she and husband Sam Asghari are divorcing after 14 months of marriage.

In an Instagram post on Friday night, Spears, 41, shared a video of herself dancing inside her home, as she's been known to do, but with a lengthy caption about how she's feeling “shocked” about her marriage ending.

“As everyone knows, Hesam and I are no longer together,” Spears wrote. “6 years is a long time to be with someone so, I’m a little shocked but … I’m not here to explain why because its honestly nobody’s business.”

News broke on Wednesday that the pop icon and the model/ actor were divorcing. The couple had gotten married in June 2022 after Spears was freed from her 13-year conservatorship. Spears met Asghari in 2016 on the set of her music video for “Slumber Party.”

Spears wrote on Instagram that she “couldn't take the pain anymore” in regard to her relationship with Asghari, adding that she's been “playing it strong for way too long.”

“I would love to show my emotions and tears on how I really feel but some reason I’ve always had to hide my weaknesses !!! If I wasn’t my dad’s strong soldier, I would be sent away to places to get fixed by doctors,” Spears continued. “But that’s when I needed family the most !!! You’re supposed to be loved unconditionally … not under conditions !!!! So I will be as strong as I can and do my best !!! And I’m actually doing pretty damn good !!! Anyways have a good day and don’t forget to smile !!!”

On Thursday, Asghari, 29, posted a statement about the divorce via Instagram Stories saying “My wife and I have decided to end our journey together.”

“We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other and I wish her the best always. Sh*t happens,” he continued. “Asking for privacy seems ridiculous so I will just ask for everyone including media to be kind and thoughtful.”

Teen Vogue has reached out to representatives of both Spears and Asghari for comment.

Following the divorce news, rumors were swirling that Asghari was attempting to change the prenuptial agreement and was threatening to post damaging videos of Spears, but a representative for the model said those claims are false, PEOPLE reported.

Asghari filed for divorce on Wednesday, citing irreconcilable differences, according to multiple sources that obtained the divorce filing. Asghari is reportedly requesting spousal support from Spears and that she cover legal fees.
