ST. LUCIE COUNTY — For the fifth consecutive year, St. Lucie County’s Parks and Recreation Department will be going for the Guinness Book of World Records.

Ravenswood Pool, Lincoln Park Pool and Lakewood Park Pool are serving as official host locations for the World’s Largest Swim Lesson, starting at 9 a.m. on Thursday, June 21.

Free swim lessons will begin at 10:15 a.m.

The program is slated to last 30 minutes.

Registration is required.

Please call 772-871-2183 to register.

St. Lucie County’s public pools are located at:

  • Lakewood Park Pool, 5990 Emerson Ave., Fort Pierce;
  • Lincoln Park Pool, 1211 Avenue M, Fort Pierce;
  • Ravenswood Pool, 400 Ravenswood Lane, Port St. Lucie.

Last year, more than 41,000 swimmers participated in the WLSL event.

Since the event began in 2010, almost 200,000 children have participated.

Tragically, drowning remains the leading cause of unintended, injury-related death for children ages 1-4, and the second leading cause of accidental death for children under 14 in the United States.

Research shows participation in formal swimming lessons can reduce the risk of drowning, yet many kids do not receive formal swimming or water safety training.
