Gobiodon rivulatus
Background
Gobiodons make lovely additions to the marine tank,
especially if you have lots of Coral. The Green Coral
Goby is a pretty example of Gobiodon, which are
primarily scale-less. Instead of scales, their skin has
a thick mucus coating which protects them from the
Acropora Corals in which they live.
General Information
Rarely aggressive towards other species, they will
fight with members of their own kind if housed in a too
-small tank, so ensure that they have enough room.
Water Quality
Temperature: 24C - 26C.
pH: 8.08.4
SG 1.020 - 1.026
Feeding
Gobiodon can take some time to become accustomed
to the home aquarium, as they can become stressed
during transport. Upon arrival at home, ensure that
they have plenty of live foods and extra attention until
they settle in. Frozen or thawed foods can be offered,
and Live Brine Shrimp will be well accepted.
Compatibility
Their toxic, mucus coated skin will offer some
protection from tank mates, but they will still require
careful matching. Species with which they can
comfortably co-exist include Anthias, Blennies,
Cardinals and other Gobies. Seahorses make
particularly good tank mates. Gobiodon may also
exist with Dwarf Angels and Butterflies.
