Meanwhile very rare in our tanks.
Imported only from Hawaiii; therefore this beautyful fish is not available very often.
Lives in reefs far away from the coasts in a depth range of 12m.
A single male is usually found with a group of females.Male have blue spots, juveniles and female white ones.Females have a red tail.
Not easy to keep during acclimation, however keeping is possible.

Synonym:
Anampses rubrocaudatus Randall, 1958

Classification: Biota > Animalia (Kingdom) > Chordata (Phylum) > Vertebrata (Subphylum) > Gnathostomata (Superclass) > Pisces (Superclass) > Actinopterygii (Class) > Perciformes (Order) > Labridae (Family) > Anampses (Genus) > Anampses chrysocephalus (Species)

Jumping guard
A jumping guard prevents (nocturnal) fish from jumping out.
Wrasses, blennies, hawkfishs and gobies jump out of an unprotected tank in fright if their night rest is disturbed, unfortunately these jumpers are found dried up in the morning on carpets, glass edges or later behind the tank.

A small night light also helps, as it provides the fish with a means of orientation in the dark!
