Corythoichthys cf. intestinalis
Ralph Bogusch sent me the three really good photos of the pipefish with the following comment:
At first glance I thought it was a Corythoichthys intestinalis.
But it has a very fine, partly green-yellow net pattern, the coloration of the caudal fin and the shape of the caudal fin as well as the width of the orange-dotted area on the side do not match the example photos on fishbase.org.
I think it is an as yet undetermined species - or a subspecies of Corythoichthys intestinalis or Corythoichthys haematopterus.
A more detailed examination is unfortunately not possible for the sake of the pipefish.
Keeping like Corythoichthys intestinalis
Feeding intake.
The fish take a long time to eat at the beginning, before the food is taken up, a close inspection is carried out. After acclimatisation, the offered frozen food is eaten without problems. It should be noted that wild-caught fish behave differently than offspring when it comes to food intake. In the case of offspring, the size of the fish purchased also plays a role in the choice of food.
