2006: Revision in the wrasse family - so far known as Coris frerei the new valid name of this fish is considered to be Coris formosa (or Allocoris formosa according to Rudie H. Kuiter).
This animal is basically a very interesting addition for large tanks and appropriate tank mates that will go to sleep each evening at the same time.
Its best attribute is that it also feeds on bristle worms all day, searching between the rockwork.
At a size of 10 cm the fish started to turn over our tridacnid clam and tried to devour it. It is thus not a completely reef safe fish and rockwork will have to be secured.
Please be aware that this fish can and will get very large and do not add it to smaller tanks under 2500 liters.

Jumping guard
A jumping guard prevents (nocturnal) fish from jumping out.
Wrasses, blennies, hawkfishs and gobies jump out of an unprotected tank in fright if their night rest is disturbed, unfortunately these jumpers are found dried up in the morning on carpets, glass edges or later behind the tank.

A small night light also helps, as it provides the fish with a means of orientation in the dark!
