SCIENTIFIC NAME - Amphiprion ephippium

COMMON NAME - Red Saddleback Anemonefish (Fire Anemonefish)

SIZE - 4.7" 12 cm)

MIN. AQUARIUM SIZE - 30 US Gal. (114 L)

FOODS AND FEEDING - Feed a varied diet of marine fare frozen or live for Carnivores, Herbivores, and Omnivores. Feed minimum 2 times a day.

REEF COMPATIBILITY - Excellent.

CAPTIVE CARE - An aggressive fish towards other anemone fish and smaller more passive tank mates, will fight amongst themselves, keep only one or a mated pair, keep with larger pugnacious tank mates, will associate with the Bubble tip anemone (Entacmaea Quadricolor) and the Leathery Seal Anemone (Heteractis Crispa). Best to provide a host anemone otherwise this fish may decide to use a stony coral polyps with is not appreciated by the coral.

I do have a spawning pair of those. One of mine is about 30 years old and still spawning. His mate is a few years younger.


They’re beautiful! It’s my dream to have 30+ year old fish but I don’t think many of mine will make it past 5.

Actually I really don't like that fish. I don't really like any clownfish as I find them to common although that fireclown is pretty rare and I have only seen maybe 2 or 3 of them in my life. But a clownfish is a clownfish.

I bought them many years ago because they were young and I thought they were red hawkfish. I think they may live forever. :anguished-face:

I can barely keep an occelaris more than 5 years without accidentally killing it! Any fish that lives over 5 years with me is a magician haha.
