I’ve had this black ribbon eel for about a month now and I was just curious if anyone knows when he’ll turn blue. I have him eating silversides and he sometimes will eat clam.

I'm not sure there's a definitive answer, I've had one for about 5 -6 months now. He's doubled in length and thickness, he was an itty bitty guy when I got him. He appears to be about 3' in length, which is about full grown in length but not thickness. Try feeding some squid and octopus, krill and shrimp; variety is a good thing.

No definite time table. Mine generally started within 1-2 years of having them. Blue specks will first appear near the gills/ face. I'd try to wean it onto something other than silversides.

How blue will first appear
