The revitalisation of Taman Mini Indonesia Indah which began in January 2022 has been completed, restoring its identity as a main tourism attraction for Jakarta. Its new developments presents a more fresh, comfortable and environmentally-friendly space for visitors to explore and experience.

Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), found in East Jakarta, was built based on the noble idea of the wife of the second President Ibu Tien Soeharto who wanted a recreational park that authentically depicted the beauty and diversity of Indonesia and evoked a sense of pride and love for Tanah Air, the land and water of the country.

When the construction of the project began in 1972 and was inaugurated on 20 April 1975, TMII had an area of 150 hectares and has, until now,  never been renovated. In January 2022, as a result of the synergy of cooperation between the Ministry of State Secretariat, Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, and the Ministry of State Owner Enterprises, the revitalisation of TMII was carried out and received its first tourist visit in a limited trial period on 16 November 2022.

The revitalised facilities and infrastructure include the restructuring the main building area, the renovation of Joglo (Sasono Utomo, Sasono Langen Budoyo, and Sasono Adiguno), the renovation of museums, pavilions and pedestrian landscape arrangements, the outer ring (bus stop) arrangement, parking area, and the management building, landscape arrangement of the islands in Archipelago lake (pedestrian pavilion, amphitheater and promenade), renovation of the former Garuda Theatre, former Telkom Museum and Keong Emas, the mega screen cinema, the arrangement of viewing towers, the construction of community centres and parking structures (elevated). All in all a very comprehensive renovation

TMII, which is now managed by the State owned park operator, PT Taman Wisata Candi (TWC) Borobudur, Prambanan and Ratu Boko, has transformed into an area that represents the future of Indonesia. There are four tourism pillars developed by PT TWC for the management of TMII, namely Inclusive, Green, Smart, and Culture.

The actualisation of the Inclusive pillar presents public spaces that can be used by the community. And in line with the Green pillar, TMII implements eco-friendly family tourist destination management and will contribute to reducing emissions while supplying oxygen in the region. After the revitalisation, TMII consists of 70 percent green zones and 30 percent buildings. And, to increase this contribution, TMII has adopted the use of carbon emission-free vehicles as transportation within its area. Electric-based transportation is provided as a means to take visitors to tour the attractions.

Representing a Smart destination, TMII has implemented a digital platform that presents transparent governance, with all transactions driven by digital technology and which is realised by implementing an online platform for purchasing the entrance tickets (www.tamanmini.com), as well as implementing cashless payments through QRIS or e-wallet.

As for the Culture pillar, TMII maximises the presence of its beautiful traditional pavilions (anjungan) that have a positive impact by representing the diversity of Indonesian culture through its vision as The Ultimate Showcase of Indonesian Beauty. TMII orchestrates cultural arts attractions in the region through regional pavilions and cultural arts communities in the region.
