Harry Potter is one of the most successful franchise's of all-time and has grossed billions at the box office, for that reason it is no wonder that its cast have gone on to achieve eternal fame for their roles

The iconic redhead Ron Weasley featured in all eight of the films and was played by Rupert Grint.

Known for his incredible comedic timing and heart of gold, Ron captured the hearts of a generation with his charm.

However, things could have been very different for Ron and actor Rupert Grint.

Actor Thomas Sangster captured hearts with his role as Sam in Love Actually

Thomas Brodie-Sangster better known for his role as a child actor in the romance film Love Actually was also in the running for the role of Ron.

In a recent interview the star spoke about missing out on the opportunity.

"It was my first experience of rejection and hit me quite hard. I had feelings of anger and frustration, but I couldn’t really put the blame on anyone for not giving me the role." he said.

Thankfully, it wasn't all doom and gloom for the young star.

Despite not being cast in the Harry Potter franchise, Thomas Brodie-Sangster has gone on to star in Nanny McPhee, Game and of Thrones and the Maze Runner films.
