Tilefishes are slender fishes associated with sand or
rubble substrates where they feed upon small fish and
invertebrates. Burrowing species tend to be skittish, quickly
retreating to their hole when
alarmed. All have sharp teeth and a large spine on the gill
cover. The voracious Atlantic Bluefish is a member of this family.
