American singer Katy Perry has sold the rights to her entire music catalogue, which includes the five studio albums she released between 2008 and 2020, for 225 million dollars to the Litmus Music company.

The deal, which was announced on 15 September 2023, is considered one of the most lucrative in music history.

Perry, who began her recording career in 2008, is one of the world's most successful artists. She has sold more than 16 million albums and 135 million singles worldwide, and has won five Grammy Awards.

Perry's catalogue includes hits such as 'Roar', 'I Kissed a Girl', 'Firework' and 'Dark Horse'. The rights to this catalogue will allow Litmus Music to control the distribution, licensing and sale of Perry's songs.

The sale of Perry's catalogue comes at a time when music royalties are fetching record prices.

In recent years, several major music stars, including Taylor Swift, Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan, have sold their catalogues for multi-million dollar sums.
