Fire has no shadow but without the light of the fire no shadow exist. Think about that a moment. If there is no light and all that exist is darkness, is it the same as a shadow? We fear shadows not because it is darkness but because it is opposite of the light observe. Allow me to give you another perspective. Shadows aren't the opposite of light; they are created by light. Shadows are not light's opposite, shadows are cast from light. Cast does not mean cast out, but cast on. When you are watching YouTube on your phone and you want to watch it on a smart TV you "cast" to that TV. In life when you want to "watch" or "observe" your own life, you cast shadows onto it. The shadows allow us to see that we are not the stick, the wick or the smoke, we are the light. And there is nothing opposite us!
