Later in my career, I realised that getting a Good Manager is a blessing. “Sabke pass nahi hote laxman 🥹” 🗣️ Don’t shy away scheduling a 1:1 with your manager & talking about your goals, kind of project you want to work on, any issue you are having in the organisation, etc.. Lot of us just keep waiting for our managers to come & talk to us. 📈 Take iterative feedback, be willing to ask where can I improve instead of waiting for year end to get performance review. 🐍 Do not tolerate toxic workplace. If you feel the place is not worth your effort nor the people, time to pack bags & start looking for a new offer.

Today almost every company is using Cloud !!! One of my juniors rejected a job offer from a very big company (probably will go for IPO in the next 2 years) 🤨 BUT WHY? 𝐁𝐚𝐝 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭. 💰He got a hike of 10% on top of his current salary, they were not ready to increase even a bit. He agreed to looking into the market condition these days & their budget could be less. 🔴 They wanted immediate joining, which he agreed to saying he will be joining coming week. But their order was, No come & join us tomorrow in the office. He politely mentioned, give me at least 2 days. The management didn't agree !!! 🤫 Then management was you have to come to the office for 6 days. He said, but earlier you mentioned 5 days a week. Now 6??? And you know amidst all this, what's the worst part? Every time he showed disagreement, they had a single answer "𝐖𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐩 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐞, 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭'𝐬 𝐢𝐭. 𝐖𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐞". In the end, He rejected saying "𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐈 𝐚𝐦 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐚 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐟𝐢𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐲." It's not just the role of HR to check your cultural fit. Rather at the time of joining you should also evaluate the company's work culture, management, etc. Just don't fall for the company looking into the salary offered. Being the older child, my Papa had huge expectations from me !!! He always taught me "How to Win, How if you put in your 100%, you will get what you want :)" I remember him crying only 2-3 times in my life, one of these is when I failed IIT... Became this kind of "headstrong" person only because of him !!! The first time, something went out of my control, I was like "C'mn Anshika, you can't fail. Failure is for losers... " But you know what? Now I am teaching him, "It's okay to fail... Someone else's highest point can be my lowest. It's not fair to compare !!!" Don't allow failures or comparisons to build upon you. You are much bigger than this. Trust yourself and just go for it !!! #fridaymotivation

It was 15th April 2020, when I got an offer from Amazon !!! My joining was around July. I had 3 months break in between. Happy and excited :) Yet very motivated to do something in that break. I called my friend Vikram Pratap Singh, saying I have a startup idea in my mind. How can I know if someone will be willing to buy my product? Just to build a little context, he is a digital marketer & was experimenting with LinkedIn those days. He suggested to me, there is this platform where a lot of professional audiences are, why don't you put a poll or ask there, might be you will get some right advice. (As naive as we could be 😅) I was like, I used this platform before just to connect with recruiters or get referrals. Who will even see my post? 😔 He said, makes sense. Let's do one thing, why don't you put content for the first 2 - 3 months, get some 200-300 people in the network & then pitch your startup idea? I am like Woah, let's start !! I am laughing out loud reading my story only, but that's how I started content creation, simply to pitch 1 startup idea. No, looking back, we started from LinkedIn, then Instagram & finally Youtube happened (This is altogether a different story, will share it someday) Vikram, you can put the title of LinkedIn career coach proudly 🚀 I owe this to you 🥹 PS:- After 2 months I was like, Dude yeh bhi karne me maza aa raha, startup idea baad me pitch kar lungi 🤫

Ended up paying a few lakhs while filling ITR 😰😰 But HOW? I was paying taxes regularly throughout the year 😩 🔴 I didn't disclose previous salaries, tax already paid, and deductions claimed in the last organization to my new employer. Regretting it a lot right now since this hefty amount to be given was not planned before :( Somedays, I am like WHY? Salaried people end up paying a lot of taxes to the government !!! Is the government really utilizing it? The only learning I could take from here is to consult a CA during the start of the financial year only to plan your investment & taxes properly.

If a tech person is paid 15 LPA, on the same year of experience a non-tech person would be paid 4 LPA 🤯 But why the market is this unfair? First, let's acknowledge the elephant in the room: not every tech job out pays non-tech ones, and vice versa. However, on average, tech positions tend to have higher salaries. But why is that? 🧐 Let's decode this: 1️⃣ 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐛 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠: First time when I saw the command line interface, I was like "This looks extremely difficult. How the heck will I learn this? 😰" Hence the consequence, very few people invest in learning & this is a very specialized skill. 2️⃣ 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝: In today's world, virtually every company is a tech company to some degree. This broad demand for tech skills paired with a limited supply of skilled professionals drives up wages in the tech sector. 3️⃣ 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡-𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐮𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐬: Tech professionals build products that can be sold to millions (or even billions) of users with minimal incremental costs. Scaling the business doesn't mean you have to scale your team size. Rather the tech investment benefits you with minimal changes 🙌 4️⃣ 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: If you compare the fee structure of B.Tech with B.Sc or B.Com, the difference is huge 🤫 If you just see the ed-tech companies charging for Full stack or Data Science programs, it's again huge !! This cost of knowledge is often reflected in higher salaries. 5️⃣ 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Tech is a field that's always changing. For eg, If I would have still coding in PHP, the opportunities for me in today's market would be negligible. Hence it requires to be updated with the new languages, and frameworks coming into the market 🚀 Did I miss something? Add your views in the comments.
