Katy Perry fans are accustomed to hearing her voice belting out lyrics that are hard not to sing along to. Apart from her heartfelt, catchy songs, folks also used to hearing her feedback on American Idol as a judge. As much as we adore both of those things, now, fans are about to hear the 37-year-old artist’s voice in a whole new way.

In an effort to bring the remarkable life of Elizabeth Taylor to the masses, Katy is set to use her voice to reveal unheard stories about the Hollywood A-lister and entrepreneur in an all-new podcast, entitled Elizabeth the First.

The 10-part series will touch on topics like her $1 million movie deal for her role in Cleopatra (a first at the time), her White Diamonds fragrance empire and the many ways she used her fame to garner attention for topics like HIV/AIDS and LGBTQ+ rights. What's more, fans of Elizabeth and her work will hear "from people closest to" to the late actress, who died in March 2011 at the age of 79.

In addition to narrating the podcast, Katy’s helping produce it, too, on behalf of her company, Kitty Purry Productions. While an exact premiere date has yet to come to light, the podcast is set to debut on all major podcast platforms sometime this spring.

As for why Katy was chosen to narrate the sure-to-be-entertaining series? It goes beyond the fact that she and Elizabeth share similar dark hair and blue eyes. “Like most people, I was attracted to her glamor, and in my own life, I continue to find myself referencing her through some of my visuals,” Katy said in a statement.

She continued: “I’ve always felt a kinship towards her — I’ve even literally bathed in the same bathtub where she made that bar-setting Cleopatra deal! I’m inspired by her bold activism, her constant boss moves in business, and through it all, an unapologetic way of loving — all things I try to live in my own life. It’s an honor to be able to share her story in this way.”
