Westlife Make Triumphant Return To U.K. Album Summit With ‘Spectrum’

The triumphant comeback of erstwhile Irish pop fixtures Westlife is complete, as their Spectrum album (EMI/Universal) debuts at No. 1 in the U.K. 

Spectrum is the Irish group’s first studio release since Gravity reached No. 3 in 2010. The new set is their eighth U.K. No. 1 album, achieving the mark with 63,000 combined units, according to the Official Charts Company. Their first was Coast To Coast in 2000, and their scorecard also includes no fewer than 14 No. 1 singles, from “Swear It Again” in 1999 to “The Rose” in 2006.

Celine Dion enters in runner-up spot this week with Courage (Columbia/Sony), her best showing since A New Day Has Come spent its first four weeks at the summit in 2002. After a No. 2 debut last week, Michael Ball & Alfie Boe‘s Back Together (Decca/Universal) dips to No. 3, while Lewis Capaldi‘s Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent (EMI/Universal) is on the rise again, 8-4. Take That‘s Odyssey – Greatest Hits Live (Eagle Rock/Universal) starts at No. 5 to become their 13th U.K. top ten album.

Kidz Bop 2020 by Kidz Bop Kids (Kidzbop), the latest in the series featuring children singing contemporary hits, is new at No. 7. TV soccer presenter, former player and manager Chris Kamara has a new entry at No. 8 with Here’s To Christmas (So What) and Canadian rapper Tory Kanez starts at No. 10 with Chixtape 5 (Virgin/Universal).

Meanwhile, Tones and I’s “Dance Monkey” (Bad Batch) snags a remarkable eighth consecutive week atop the singles chart.

Tones and I’s combined unit sales remain remarkably robust, matching last week’s total with 83,000, including 9.6 million streams. Dua Lipa‘s “Don’t Start Now” (Warner) is at No. 2 again, as Billie Eilish makes a No. 3 start with “Everything I Wanted” (Interscope/ Universal). Regard’s “Ride It” (Ministry of Sound) is down 3-4 and Maroon 5‘s “Memories” (Interscope/Universal) up 6-5.

Capaldi also rebounds on the singles chart, as “Bruises” climbs 10-6, regaining its peak position, and his “Before You Go” opens at No. 19.

Finally, rapper Arizona Zervas rises 24-10 on his self-titled label with “Roxanne.”
