The San Alfonso del Mar resort in Algarrobo, Chile, is home to the Crystal Lagoon, otherwise known as the world’s largest pool.

Spanning more than three-fifths of a mile, the colossal creation is equivalent to the length of 20 Olympic-sized swimming pools and is surrounded by artificial beaches.

This man-made lagoon contains 66 million gallons of seawater, drawn from the ocean using a computerized suction-and-filtration system.

Opened in 2006, it’s reported to have taken more than five years to construct.
