When you're getting tattooed anywhere that's not your forearm, it's hard to watch your artist work without contorting your body and potentially bumping into them. Most of the time, you don't know exactly how your tattoo will look until it's completely done and you're free to get up and move around. You might sit there for hours at a time while the anticipation builds, so the thrill of seeing a tattoo you just got done for the very first time is unlike any other. Vanessa Hudgens knows exactly what we mean. On March 5, the actress uploaded a video to Instagram of herself racing up to a mirror to catch the first glance of her latest ink. "Lol this was the first time I saw it," she wrote. "I never peeked. Hilarious. I love @drag_ink so damn much. What. A. Legend."

The fresh, all-black rib tattoo, done by tattoo artist Dragon from New York City's Bang Bang studio, depicts an angel with her arms stretched upward and her feathery wings spread outward. A Hudgens earlier described it on social media: "Divine feminine angel 🔮❤️ not me.... my tat. But you can call me that, if you want to."

It's not the biggest tattoo in the world, but its size definitely doesn't sacrifice detail. That's the magic of Dragon's work — he uses a single-needle tattooing tool to create fine lines and subtle shading. A traditional tattooer would likely use a machine with multiple needles for bolder, darker shading, but Dragon's technique leaves rooms for more detail in a smaller amount of space.

Based on the response to Hudgens's new ink, we're willing to bet it won't be long until we see similar dainty angel tattoos popping up all over our social media feeds. The close-cropped still photos she posted of the artwork have earned almost 2 million likes in less than a day, and her video has been watched almost 5 million times. Clearly, folks are super into this tattoo. If you're one of the many looking for a similar piece, search for artists who specialize in single-needle tattooing in your city.
