Harry Styles (Singer)

Harry Styles is a singer, songwriter and actor. Born on February 1, 1994, in Redditch, Worcestershire, England, Styles first rose to prominence in 2010 after he auditioned as a solo artist for British music competition TV show “X-Factor.” Judge Simon Cowell placed him, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Liam Payne into the group that eventually became massively successful boy band One Direction. After signing to Cowell’s label Syco Records, One Direction released five albums between 2012 and 2015, spawning hits such as “What Makes You Beautiful,” “Story of My Life,” “Live While We’re Young,” “Best Song Ever,” “Night Changes” and many more. The group — which remains one of the bestselling boy bands of all time, having sold over 70 million records worldwide and accruing dozens of awards — went on hiatus in 2016, and Styles made the transition to solo artist shortly thereafter. He released his first solo single, “Sign of the Times” in April 2017, off his self-titled album, which released in May of the same year and debuted at number one in the United States. The same year, he made his acting debut in Christopher Nolan’s “Dunkirk,” playing a British soldier intent on survival in World War II. 2019’s sophomore album “Fine Line” catapulted Styles to even greater global fame; his single “Watermelon Sugar” became his first number one single in the United States. In 2021, he made a brief cameo as Eros, the brother of Thanos, in Chloe Zhao’s “Eternals”; in 2022, his third album, “Harry’s House,” released to widespread commercial and critical acclaim, winning the Grammys for Album of the Year and Pop Vocal Album of the Year.
