Chrysiptera cyanea (Orange tail)

Chrysiptera cyanea, commonly known as the Sapphire devil, is a small schooling damselfish. They're one of the most common and colourful damselfishes. Besides that, they're hardy, easy to feed, stay small, are reefsafe, cheap and always visible. Unfortunately the common name 'devil' is not for nothing. These beauties are quite territorial, and this can lead to aggression towards eachother as well as other fish (even to fishes twice their size). Other than that these are the perfect beginner fish. 

These fish are entirely metallic blue with usually a black spot in the dorsal fin and some black markings on the face. Males develop an orange tail and sometimes even a little orange in the dorsal and anal fin as well as the mouth and pelvic fins. 

Keeping this fish in larger numbers will definetely make it shine, but remember that they can squabble with eachother and other fish as well. Food-wise these fish are very easy and will usually accept any food that fits their mouth in no time. Feed them a varied diet of live/frozen food as well as pellets and flakes containing vegetable matter to keep them healthy and colourful!
