Natural History: The Red Dotted Jawfish is found on sand and rubble bottom reefs. It is observed in burrows that it enters tail-first. It digs its burrows by moving mouthfuls of sand.
Husbandry: The Red Dotted Jawfish is a peaceful fish that may be territorial with its own species. It should be housed in an aquarium with sand and live rock to provide suitable digging and hiding places. It will feed on ornamental shrimp and small fish.
