Family: Pectiniidae (Stony Corals)
Habitat: A variety of reef lighting and water flow conditions.

Diet: These corals have zooxanthellae which provide much of their nutrition. It is believed they also feed on microzooplankton and directly absorb some nutrients from the water.
Natural History: Chalice Corals form encrusting plates and folds with rounded ridges. They can be very colorful, including yellow, maroon, orange, red, and green. Their corallites are raised to give the appearance of warts. They produce both sweeper and feeding tentacles at night.
Husbandry: Echinophyllia is highy adaptable and found in a variety of reef conditions. It does produce sweeper tentacles and is quite aggressive so it requires some space to prevent aggression. It is hardy in the aquarium and tolerates nearly all water flow and lighting conditions.
