After finishing Man from the Stars, my withdrawal was pretty great. I decided to take a bit of a break from keeping up the the new shows. Instead, I spent some quality time with shows I had overlooked in the past. First on my list: Dream High.
It was only natural that after falling in love with Kim Soo Hyun in Man from the Stars, I needed to watch more from this fabulous actor. I already loved Suzy, Taecyeon, and Kim Soo Hyun so it was only natural that I enjoyed this show as well.
This show was an adorable coming of age story filled with plenty of endearing characters. I loved that the characters actually grew throughout the course of the drama. They were able to develop not only as musicians, but also as young adults. Overall, it was a nice feel-good drama.
The camaraderie among the cast was fun to watch, especially when references to their real musical careers were mentioned.
These two sure had some great bromance-y moments.
Even the “bitch” character was able to come full circle from best friend to enemy and then back to friend.
And let’s be honest, JYP’s involvement was rather hilarious.
I know these two weren’t the lead couple, but I loved their relationship. They never failed to bring a big smile to my face.
And of course Kim Soo Hyun’s cries were excellently executed.
If you’re looking for a fun coming of age story with a lot of heart be sure to check out Dream High!
I’m a bit sad I was so late to watch this show, but I still enjoyed it nonetheless. I may even argue that seeing these big stars act out their teenage roles is more meaningful now. There’s something very satisfying about watching the characters struggle for success when I already know they obtain it in real life. Great job guys!
What are your thoughts on Dream High? Did you have a favorite character or favorite song? Let me know in the comments!
Thanks for reading!

P.S. From looking at the fan reactions to Dream High 2, I’ve decided to star far, far away so as not to scar my happy memory of the original. What do you think? Should I give the spinoff a try?

Do NOT watch Dream High 2. I think I got maybe halfway through the first episode and Dramabeans stopped recapping after episode two. From what I hear it only got worse from there.

Thank you for confirming what I already suspected. I will stay very far away from Dream High 2! It’s a shame that they ruined the premise since the original was so enjoyable.

Nope. I prefer if you don’t watch the second one at all.

I thought Dream High was going to be super corny at first, and I was right! It’s corny but I really enjoyed it. Loved Sam Dongie and his awkward dancing haha. Really like reading your blog. Please continue your awesome posts and pictures:)
