The True Percula

Pretty good selection of saltwater and reef tanks. They also have a minimal filtration tank that is my inspiration for a beautiful eco system sans protein skimmer.

Well, sadly, I have to update my review. I returned to this store after a great while to find a healthy betta. I chose a beautiful one and upon addition to my tank he was instantly lifeless and within 10 hours had developed a terrible case of ich. This tank is cycled, and had no previous livestock in it. There's no reason this fish should have died other than it was sold me and already unhealthy.

While they do have a great selection, I have to emphasize the fact that SO MANY of their freshwater fish are sick. Do yourself a favor and do not buy these fish, they will infect your entire tank.

I'm sure if I returned to the store with the fish, they would have done something for me, but after two bad experiences, what's the point? I'll find a better LFS, even if it means I have to drive a ways to get there.

Please support LFS that sell HEALTHY fish. While the employees are knowledgeable, they aren't proactive enough to take care of the fish that they sell. This will be my last time visiting this store, and while they didn't have anything else I was looking for, I'm certainly glad I didn't purchase anything else from them.


This store is not great if you know the slightest thing about aquaria. The coral is colorless and brown and the fish, other than the display tank, are not fish I would be adding to my tank do to their poor apperance.

Their freshwater fish selection is truly pathetic. The store is nothing more than a glorified Petco with coral and EXTREMELY inflated prices. I will not visit again, nor will I encourage any of my aquarist friends to visit this store.

Website says they are always hiring, but obviously not people who know enough to keep the coral they sell healthy. Sad.

This was my first time visiting their store. Originally I was impressed with the selection they had of freshwater because other than Petsmart it's hard to find a wide variety in one store.

That being said after I had a few questions about the fish and how to take care of the fish... 2 of the 3 employees on the sales floor didn't know enough so they advized I talked to a younger guy (who I wont mention the name of). He was extremely smug and told me I "may as well just fill my tank with barbs" because we didn't know a lot about the other fish. He practically told me he wouldn't sell me the fish that I actually wanted and that was extremely frustrated.

After leaving the store empty handed I went to Petsmart and found 3 of the fish I wanted from True Percula at a third of the price. And they looked healthier!

I highly recommend shopping at Ocean Avenue in arlington instead. their freshwater selecion isn't as large but if you talk to the employees you can request some fish for their next shipment and they will actually listen to your questions without seeming irritated.

Came here to look at their selection because I've been driving by for years. Now that I have my aquarium up and running I think I'll just continue to drive by instead of stopping.


No type of customer service. I felt like I was a bother being inside. More than disappointed with their staff.

There are other aquarium stores worth the drive.

I recently decided to get my salt water fish tank back up an running. I came in this place and was impressed by there selection of supplies. The prices were good and the staff seemed knowledgeable. My tank is up and running with fish only..no corals. (by choice) I have bought several fish here now and for the most part they have adapted well to my tank. I will be coming here often.

Absolutely one of my favorite fish shops in all of DFW! I wish they were still in business. This hurts! You could find the best fish there! So knowledgeable and helpful. This is a loss for all those that are into aquariums in DFW!!!!

Best place I have found for fish. Knowledgeable staff and good selection of salt and fresh water fish. Pricing a little higher than a big chain, not by much, but very well worth it. Super clean tanks and very healthy fish that took very fast to my tank.

As other people said,more fishes here than other fish store!! I went to here last week, and their service was not so bad than i expected after read from other reviews..They help people on choosing fishes but not really welcome!! I think 4 stars are good enough for this store!!!

This place has good products, although the prices are a little high. Customer service definitely makes up for it though. I do also wish there was more selection in salt water fish and coral. But overall, it's a great place!

We always stop in when we are early to dance. The children love to see the beautiful fish and the employees are very nice.
