Giriraj Swami spoke about practical lessons we can learn from the life of Sri Advaita Acarya:

“We should not feel proud of our own capability to preach or deliver others but should feel helpless and dependent on our superiors. In that sincere, humble mood of genuinely wanting to help people but feeling ourselves incapable, we can pray to our superiors, ‘You please come. Please speak through my mouth and inspire the audience in their hearts.’ That is the only way anyone can preach.

“If someone thinks, ‘Oh, I’m very learned, I know the scriptures; I can lead good kirtana, I have a very good voice, I am a good musician’ — that is useless. That type of pride and self-absorption will not help anyone. But feeling genuine compassion and sincerely wanting to help others while feeling helpless to do so on one’s own is helpful to oneself and to others. In that mood we can earnestly pray to the Lord and the superior acaryas to help us.”
