Why Ronald Weasley is my favourite character so far.

Hello guys and welcome to my newborn blog. I'm so excited to share my very first blog post today, . Since I am a huge, obsessed, fanatic Potterhead I felt that the best way to start with blogging was of course with a Harry Potter related post.

Better, with a Ron Weasley related post.

Ronald Bilius Weasley, "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone"

Ronald Bilius Weasley.

Birthday: 1st March 1980

Parents: Arthur Weasley & Molly Prewett

Brothers: Bill, Charlie, Percy, Fred, George

Sister: Ginny

Hogwarts house: Gryffindor

Characteristics: Red-headed, freckled, lanky, big-eater, afraid of spiders, troublemaker, unfortunate, genius at wizard chess, loyal.

When it comes to the Harry Potter Universe there are many considerable characters, some with a great background story, some with unique qualities, some are just memorable. So why Ron Weasley when we could've talked about someone like Snape, Dumbledore, Lupin, Sirius, Luna or Neville? The answer is just because I've always felt like I AM RON WEASLEY.

He always doubts his skills, he is constantly afraid of not being enough, he always feels in need to prove himself and others that he can actually do things.

When we first meet him at King's Cross it's clear that he is a airhead troublemaker: we can see Molly giving him Scabbers back through the train's window because he lost his rat without even noticing. After that we are on the Hogwarts Express and Ron wants to show Harry a spell he's just learned but guess what? He fails the spell in front of Harry AND Hermione, who just made her first appearance.

We're now at the Great Hall waiting for the first year students to be sorted. It's his turn and we all know that he is so nervous just seeing his awkward faces. He is afraid of not being sorted into Gryffindor like the rest of his siblings, and we can see the relief on his face when the sorting hat actually sorts him into the family house.

Another characteristic that we discover almost immediately is that he loves to binge A LOT. (which I also do, I LOVE junk food).

He really loves food in any form it can be made and we will see him eating a lot.

If Ron is not eating we all know there is something wrong.

Just like that scene in the Half-blood prince when they are at the Great Hall waiting for the Quidditch match to begin, and he suddenly doesn't trust himself anymore and wants to run away. Ron thinks he made it through that situation and played a great match thanks to the Felix Felicis Harry fakes to give to him, but we all know that that was just water, and that the fear of failing is just in Ron's mind he just needs to believe in himself.

Sometimes we also ask ourselves "why has Ron been sorted into Gryffindor?" we get many anwers to this questions through the years, but the first and most impressive one is for sure the Wizard Chess Game in "The Philosopher's Stone".

WEASLEY IS OUR KING

In this scene we see that Ron IS brave, he handles the situation and manages to win the game by sacrificing himself to let Harry go on, because he knows that only Harry can be the one to save the Philosopher's Stone. Ron is always by Harry's side even when he is accused to be Slytherin's heir in "the Chamber of Secrets". LOYALTY is for sure his best quality which is only affected when he can't control his jealousy towards Harry. This is another point in the story. Ron IS jealous of Harry in many ways: Harry is talented, has great magical skills, girls want to be with him, he is famous and everyone knows him, but he actually don't shows this feeling very often, he is mostly proud of his friend and wants to stand for him. We will see the first bad arguement between the two only in the Goblet of Fire when Ron feels betrayed by Harry because he thinks that he put his name in the Goblet of Fire without letting him know. But here again, Ron is not angry because Harry was chosen, but because he thinks that Harry didin't share the secret with him. After he sees Harry fighting against the Dragon in the first task, he suddenly realises that it's stupid to be mad and he trusts Harry again when he says that he didn't put the name in the Goblet.

The other arguement we will see is in the Deathly Hallows but I personally don't consider that like a real argument because Ron is influenced by the Horcrux.

So next question will be "why is Ron influenced by the necklace so bad when Harry and Hermione can handle it?" to me the reason is just that Ron is the must vulnerable one, he is always doubting himself and how others see him. In that moment he is jealous of Harry and Hermione, he feels useless because he's hurt, and he is worried about his family. All of this together leads Ron to bitterness and evil thoughts, so he decides to leave. But watching this scene all I can see is humanity behind the character, 'cause sometimes we all feel left alone and like no one cares and get mad, so I can't just blame him for being so insecure. In fact, the moment he leaves he wants to come back but can't find his way because Harry and Hermione are hiding with magic. But he finds the best way to come back by saving Harry's life and destroying the Horcrux that caused them so much damage.

Ron is so similar to me in so many aspects. He is constantly insecure about himself but still brave enough to try. He learns from his mistakes and he is always ready to say sorry when he hurts someone. He is such a troublemaker, which I am also, literally. I can't live one day without demaging something or hurt myself.

I like his character because he is so close to a real person with virtues and vices, he is not a hero and he is not a great mind, he is just like every normal people and we can all identify with him.
