Characteristic Dorsal rays XII, 12-13; Anal rays II, 12-13; pectoral rays 18-19; lateral-line scales 15-17; body depth 1.5-1.7 in standard length. Upper and lower accessory caudal rays spinous. Margin of infraorbital series serrated. Color in life white with 3 black bars; a black area over the outer two-thirds of the tail.
