Snout and parts of the head dark blue, front body black with abrupt transition to the pale yellowish body rear. Juveniles black with yellow back stripe.

Habitat : Coral reefs, 2-25/30 m.
Distribution : East Africa to S Japan, Micronesia, Line Islands and French Polynesia.
