Yellow at the pectoral fins. Yellow band above the eye.

Size : 60 cm

Habitat : Lagoons and outreefs, 3-90 m. Largest species of tis genus. Alone or in loose groups above the reef sand, rubble and stony ground. Grazes predominantly on thread algae and diatoms as well as detritus, occasionally also hydrozoa. Can rapidly switch colour pattern.

Distribution : East Africa to SW Japan, Hawaii, Panama and New Caledonia.
