Signal Goby

Signigobius biocellatus

Two large eye spots on the dorsal fins, green-brown vertical stripe under the eye. Unmistakable.

Size : 6.5 cm

Habitat : Inhabits sand and mud flats in protected coastal reefs, lagoons and bays, 2-30 m. Usually hovers very close to the seabed. Takes sand into its mouth and filters out tiny living creatures.

Distribution : Indonesia to the Philippines, Palau, GBR and Vanuatu.
