Chaetodon ephippium

Large black spot, set off by a white stripe, at the rear of upper body.

Size : 23 cm

Habitat : In coral-rich lagoons and out reefs, to 30 m. Ranges alone, in pairs or small groups through the reef. Its nutritional sources include small invertebrates, sponges, coral polyps, fish eggs and blanket-weed algae.

Distribution : Sri Lanka and Coco Keeling to SW Japan, Hawaii and French Polynesia.
