Pomacanthus navarchus

Majestic angelfish or blue girdled angelfish

Angelfish Sp.

These large fish are considered quite hardy, but due to their size can be a significant challenge for the keeper. They need huge tanks, up to 180 gallons to house one for its entire lifetime. Two angelfish could be kept in the same tank provided it is a large tank, they are properly acclimated as juveniles, and have very different coloration and body shape. However, because all Angelfish have essentially the same diet, mixing them is an achievement that should be left only to advanced keepers. None are safe on the reef, and a potential owner should be aware that they should have plenty of plant matter in their diet. They undergo significant changes in coloration as they mature, and unless specific descriptions are laid out for adult specimens.
