It is generally observed singly or in small groups close to the bottom feeding on zooplankton. Husbandry: The Black Cap Damsel is a good aquarium fish. It may be harassed by other damsels (pomacentrids) and dottybacks. A male-female pair can be housed in a large tank. It does best with numerous hiding places in a community tank.
