Blue tang or yellow belly

Hi I recently purchased a blue hippo tang from my LFS and after looking at it in my tank I am wonder if it may be a yellow belly blue tang

I don't think they are a different type of fish . I believe it's just a regional variation that gets a different name.

So do you think this one will have the yellow belly or could it just be faded color from stress?

Tuff to tell. The amount of yellow and the intensity varies greatly.

Depending on size yellow bellies do not get the full yellow until maturity when they are small hard to tell unless you are certain where they are collected from.

He's probably 2 to 3 inches. I guess I'll have to wait it out.
